The Barbier-Mueller Museum is dedicated to the conservation, study, publication and exhibition of a collection begun by Josef Mueller in 1907 and continued by his heirs to this day.
The largest privately owned collection in the world, it now includes several thousand pieces of tribal and classical antiquity, as well as sculptures, textiles and ornaments from various cultures in Africa, Oceania, Asia and the Americas.
Many of these pieces are considered to be essential masterpieces of great historical value.
